  1. Mark Overdulve from Langdon, Canada writes: I have the same message, but probably a different senario. I have been trying to install a 250GB HD on my XP system. I have upgraded my bios and it sees the 250GB HD, but I cannot complete a format using Disk Management. When I first install the new disk and boot--I have no issue, but when the format fails and I reboot I get the SMART warning and can't get by it or access the CMOS setup. I have now tried 2 completely new drives with the exact outcome. The only opinion that I have been able to find is from "eSupport" where I purchased my bios upgrade. They say that my motherboard chipset does not support 48-bit (LBA)? I have a 4-year old Shuttle motherboard and can't seem to get any information from them. When I remove the 250GB HD and put in my old 40GB all is fine? At this point, I am at a loss.

Any help that anyone could give me would be seriously appreciated.

    Thank you
