Held down key for several seconds in Windows, now keyboard won't respond

Globe and Mail Update

QUESTION: Accidentally held down a key long enough to bring a dialogue box up to which I hit OK without fully reading it. Now my keyboard won't respond and when I click in Word with the mouse it highlights everything to that point. What did I do and how do I fix it please?

Theresa

ANSWER: It may be "Utility Manager", a Windows tool to help people with disabilities. You can get to it by Windows-U (hold down the Windows key and press "U"). It is also sometimes activated by holding down certain keys. Sorry but I don't remember the details of which keys but I have accidentally run into it in the past.
