EDMONTON — For the better part of a week, Carolina Hurricanes' coach Peter Laviolette kept insisting that Erik Cole – a player he describes as one of the best power forwards in the National Hockey League – would absolutely, under no circumstances, play a game in the Stanley Cup final.
