QUESTION: I have CD recorder (not computer based) which I have been using to make audio CD compilations on Music/Audio CDRs for years for my personal use. I'm finding that I'm having problems recording on them now. Only Music CDRWs work on it now but I haven't been able to buy any in any of the usual retail outlets. Am I stuck with a dying technology? I want to record my vinyl LP's onto CD but I just lost the only way of doing that. Is there anything I can do?

ANSWER: I have a friend who used to have one of the component CD Recording units you're describing. I don't know about your particular model, but I know that he was unable to purchase "any old CDs" to use he could only use the Audio CDRs that you mentioned.
If you were able to use a usual spindle of cheap blank CDs in the past, maybe it's not your machine's fault, but rather the blank CDs are getting even cheaper at the retail level and at the manufacturing level? Just a thought but I do know that high-quality blank CDs are becoming harder and harder to come by these days without paying through the nose for them! It's probably a combination of availability and the copyright levy on blank audio media driving the price too high for the retailer to bother carrying them any longer.
I'd check specialty music shops or even on-line.
I found one link as a suggestion, I hope that this isn't considered as advertising! It's just the first one I found on Google.

(I remember that I used to use Mitsui brand CDs exclusively when I was making recordings that I wished to archive they were one of the best then and likely still are.)
