XP PC freezes on bootup, even in safe mode

Globe and Mail Update

QUESTION: Hey I've got this eMachines t1220 and it was hit by some viruses I think. I tried to run safe mode by hitting f8, but when I got to the login screen (Windows XP) it froze. I went to reboot ( by unplugging because the button on the front of the PC is only to turn on or something), and it then goes to this sleep mode thing and runs really quiet but wont boot up ....

Please help. :)

Austin

ANSWER: It sounds like you have a failing hard drive. I would recommend sending it to a data recovery specialist if the information on it is important to you.
