Bob Macdonald from London, United Kingdom writes: Most new cases are coming from Africa. It is the same issue in the UK. Most public health officials admit this, but the media keeps avoiding the issue. It is critical that we test people coming into the country from high-risk countries. The current approach is just increasing the problem.

Jim Terrets from Vancouver, writes: Women like to claim that they are smarter then men, but this study proves otherwise. It's time we cut off healthcare benefits for those who engage in unprotected sex with multiple partners who they barely know, because for many years, the evidence has been loud and clear that you can get AIDS. I don't want my tax dollars going to people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions and then expect me to pick up the tab. I feel sorry for their children though, so any kids should be eligible for treatment, but the adults are old enough to make their own decisions.

Lucy May from Montreal, Canada writes: In response to one of the comments posted earlier, I would like to point out that HIV/ AIDS is a global disease. Unfortunately, due to political, cultural and socio- economic reasons Africa may have the highest HIV/ AIDS rate followed by Asia but as this article points out the disease can infect anyone. HIV/ AIDS doesn't discriminate and so it isn't particularly fair to discriminate against others in a process of testing people before they enter into our country. Should we expell our own citizens who have HIV/ AIDS? I would certainly think not. Rather, we need a global solution.
