  1. sam draper from Canada writes: Sounds to me like a man who knows that to win, you need to fight and you need to be focussed. How else are we going to win the next election?
  2. John K. from Vancouver, Canada writes: I hope he losses both the leardership and his seat in the next election. he does a dis-service to other immigrants with his vote-blocking and donation-laundering tactics. He's the poster boy for the era of cronyism the liberals needs to leave behind. Sounda like that is already happening, at least for him.
  3. Craig Scott from Ottawa, writes: Don't you think that Joe's reputation as a backroom boy and his recent problems last year with expense claims are everything that is wrong with the Liberal Party? I suspect that either Joe will quit this contest or go down on the first Ballet. If it is the latter I am sure he will find a way to make some backroom deal for his support that will vault him to some high profile position in the next Liberal administration.....that is just the way it is with old time politics.
  4. james barber from duncan, Colombia writes: Volpe is a Grade 2 Chretien. Sam Draper talks about 'we' winning the next election. , Do the Liberals seriously want to perpetuate their scumbag image ? is their only regret being found out ? James
  5. Douglas Graves from Mississauga,Ont, Canada writes: I hope that the 'back room boy' is shown the back door by the liberal party. He is the poster boy for what is wrong with the liberals and if they want to get back in power, they have to change the way they do things, and the 1st thing to do is show Joe the door.
  6. G T from Ottawa, Canada writes: He's still in that race? Wow...I really thought he would have dropped out by now. I guess by sending a bunch of delagates to the winning camp come round 2 of voting he'll be a king maker, thus be able to pay back his generous donators...even if they are only 12 years old.
  7. d m from somewhere, Cambodia writes: Call it quits Joe, take your Golden tax payer funded pension and go away!
  8. Michele K from Ottawa, Canada writes: Don't Volpe or Brisson get that the Liberals have no chance of governing this country with one of them in charge? What's next - are they going to bring Gagliano or Pelletier back from 'retirement'? And while we're at it, let's talk about Ignatieff - no way in heck that the Liberals are going to attract voters like me (Red Tory, hate Harper) with his bad track record on Iraq, etc. Or are they thinking as Stockwell Day's set did that if they put Ignatieff in a wetsuit, that we silly women will all swoon and cast our ballots accordingly? Now, if the Liberals see fit to put Dion in charge - or maybe even Rae - they might just get my vote, but Volpe/Brisson/Ignatieff - no way!
  9. Art S from Toronto, Canada writes: I'm a Conservative supporter but believe Canada is best served if the Commons is populated with good quality people regardless of party affiliation. A good Liberal leader is good for Canada whether they are in opposition or in power. Having said that, this guy is not it. His philosophy seems to be 'the end justifies the means'. My impression of him is not one of an honest person but one who's more out for himself rather than his fellow citizens. The best thing he can do for his constituents, his party and his country is to quietly vanish.
  10. The Objectivist from the sensible part of Toronto, Canada writes: clearly he doesn't think he's going to win, he's amassing what following he can to give him back room currency, ie who's he going to 'throw' his support behind. This is how Volpe's of the world stay in influential positions. I knew politics was sleazy but after reading the account of his behavior in the article earlier today, I'm disgusted.
  11. Michael Leblanc from Canada writes: The man is clearly in the back pocket of big pharma and goodness knows who else. The fact that he did not have at least the basic intelligence let alone the dignity to resign his bid for the leadership after the child-donation debacle boggles my mind. He is the poster boy for power-hungry ego-driven corruption in politics that we have seen in all the major parties. Sadly, he's not even adept at being corrupt. Get real. The mans a disgrace.
  12. Michael Crowell from Halifax, Canada writes: Backroom man I'd say. This man is not fit lead a boy scout troop let along the Country. I said the Liberals will be in opposition for the next ten years. I take it back. With people like Volpe, make that twenty years. He makes Chretien look like a genius.
  13. jay thomas from Toronto, Canada writes: With allegations that Joe recruited and paid for new party members in Montreal who did not know they were party members shows that he is truly the right man to lead the Liberal Party- however he is definately not the right man to lead Canada
  14. Have Pun Will Travel from Canada writes: Pack it up Joe. You've managed to accumulate so much baggage that, I am sure, the remaining candidates are DREADING you backing one of them up. You're the Liberal "hot potato"! I can hear it now: RAE: "You take him. IGNATIEFF: "Nah, you take him" KENNEDY: "I'm not taking him (let's tell Joe, Hedy Fry is still running)"
