  1. C HOLLINGWORTH from Canada writes: Running business operations is time consuming - that is a fact - so this survey is no surprise regarding accounting and admin. I've worked in dozens of white collar companies providing one type of service or another and, every time, a good chunk of the staff is dedicated to maintaining operations and/or providing information to management so they can make sound decisions. It would have been more useful if the RBC survey indicated the various industries polled and how each of them wish they could focus more time on business development vs. business operations.
  2. Dan Green from Toronto, Canada writes: Boy what a surprise, RBC did this study, touting on line banking as the solution . There is no solution, to accounting red tape, keeps millions of accountants chasing beans, and scores of federal employees working. Then there is the boogy man, Rev Cdn. lurking in the background.
  3. j smith from hamilton, Canada writes: what's this mean?? does this mean that every business owner an accountant or trying to be an accountant? what's does this imply for the field of accountancy?

  6. Cecilia L from Toronto, Canada writes: j smith from hamilton asked 'does this mean that every business owner an accountant?' Well, I as a business owner so I can tell you the answer... Yes if you don't want to pay a CA to deal with your receipts and file tax for you... No if your business generates enough money to make sense of hiring a CA to deal with your book, and after all how much do you trust your accountant's tax strategy advice? If they even give you any without charging you your arm and leg. By the time your business have enough money to really effort all that, is when your business is no long a 'SMALL' business.
