Wal-Mart to buy Chinese 'hypermarket' chain: report

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has reached an agreement to buy a chain of super-centre stores in China for about $1-billion (U.S.), a deal that could give the American retailer the biggest food and department store network in China, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website Monday. The purchase of the Chinese super-stores of Trust-Mart, a closely-held Taiwanese company, would give the world's largest retailer access to China's fast-growing market, the Journal said. Bentonville, Ark.
