Homework doesn't make the grade

It must have felt like sweet vindication for the students of Vernon Barford Junior High School last June when the summer break hit and the teachers were assigned the homework. The boss, principal Stephen Lynch, had heard enough parents complain about the hours of homework their children slog through every night and the toll it takes on the entire family to think that the time had come for the teachers to do some reading of their own — on whether homework actually works.
