Martin Easton from Toronto, Canada writes: The PS3 goes on sale on Novermber 17th in Canada too, but because the Globe and Mail does not edit it's AP Articles, nor does it hire any proper writers we here in Canada get American news. Thanks G

Stude Ham from Outremont, Canada writes: puzzle... how does a store sell out of anything before it even opens?? is this pure press hype to make a rather overpriced bit of electronic junk seem desirable? also... what's the price of this ephemeric gizmo in japan? rumours are that it will be very costly to the local markets here... like close to hundreds of bucks. next question... will microsoft use the same kind of marketing hype, ie people standing in lineups for hours, to shill its vista? how dreary!

Tom Randall from Winnipeg, Canada writes: #2 it sells about because there is such a limited suppl and I would bet staff bought the few units that were actually delivered to the store.
Sony is under such pressure to launch this oft-delayed machine (check out their stock price which has been beaten up as a result) but it just seems foolish to launch this product when you do not have enough supply. They are getting all this press about a new machine that is so advanced in technology - but all that buzz turns negative when people can not get supply of the units. Why not wait until they have enough units to give a reasonable supply to the stores instead of the reported 6 or so that may be coming. All Sony is doing is upsetting their fanbase and feeding the eBay trolls- Posted 12/11/06 at 10:17 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Colin Chisholm from Halifax, Canada writes: I HIGHLY doubt that the Playstation brand will retain it's 70% market share in Japan. Nintendo is back and better then ever, step aside Sony.

G B from Canada writes: hey #2 Stude....like close to hundreds of bucks.....ok why comment on something you obviously have no clue about? So far the suggested retail for this unit is between 599-699$...The hype for this is no different that any other item that has come out that is highly anticipated....why do ppl wait in line for 24-48hrs for SuperBowl tickets, Wrestlemania tickets, ...why did ppl wait in line for the Furby toys years ago...why were parents trampled over Cabbage Patch dolls?....every year there is that "buzz" item that everyone wants or that event that everyone wants to attend...that will never change...

G Y from Toronto, Canada writes: Sony has done this before with the PS2 and is doing it again. Never mind whether they're witholding units on purpose to create hype or it really is due to factory probs, it worked in the past and they think it'll work again.
It worked for PS2 cause there wasn't any competition, but now, it's a different story. I'm not even going to try to get one on the first day (17th), as there'll probably be overnight campers at the stores anyway, and the store will have the grand sum of 1 (or none!) for sale...- Posted 14/11/06 at 12:37 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
