'Sexist' idea irks Montreal police officers
MONTREAL — The Montreal police department says it was just trying to be culturally sensitive. Now it's accused of being sexist.A suggestion that female police officers call in a male colleague sometimes to accommodate ultra-orthodox Jews has sparked a furor in Montreal.
Detractors say that in trying to respect religious minority rights, they're violating the rights of 1,200 female officers.
