Ontario MPPs vote overwhelmingly for pay hike
Members of the Ontario legislature voted overwhelmingly in favour today of giving themselves a 25 per cent pay hike.
Marie Bountrogianni, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, introduced legislation calling for the salary of an MPP to be capped at 75 per cent of what a federal MP is paid. As a result, MPPs would see their base pay climb to $110,775 from $88,771 a year. By comparison, MPs earn a base salary of $147,700.
