Low-rise market
Since 2004, new high-rises have kept Toronto's new-home construction chugging along at a hyperactive rate.
But construction starts on low-rise housing — single-family detached, semi-detached and townhouses — fell by 14 per cent from January to November, 2006, compared with the same period of 2005, from 24,247 to 20,765, across the Greater Toronto Area, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (December figures were not available at deadline.
