Jim Terrets from Vancouver, writes: Well, well, well, it looks like George W. Bush and pals' efforts at spreading liberty and freedom across the Middle East by invading and occupying Iraq has succeeded beyond their wildest dreams -- now the Afghan resistance is liberating lives by freely using suicide bomb techniques developed in Iraq. Prior to their use in Iraq, Afghanistan had never seen a suicide bomber, and now they're utilizing the same tactics as the Iraq resistance. This is a sign that things in Afghanistan are about to get a whole lot worse. Seeing as the Americans are bogged down in Iraq and can't spare the money or the men for Afghanistan, our small contingent of troops is nothing but sitting ducks. Lets leave the Americans to stew in their own mess and wash our hands of this disaster by pulling our troops out now.

Combative American from Minneapolis, United States writes: Jim, what the suicide bomber techniques show, is nothing more than the complicit nature of these terrorist organizations and the dissemination of information between them, and how this information is then put into utilization. Proving once again, that all of these various offshoots of al Quaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. - are all in it for the exact same purposes. That being, to spread their message of fear and death amongst the ignorant masses in the middle east and beyond, in their quest to instill the message that their way is the "only way" in their dreams of world domination through religious compliance. The US intelligence services have been saying this for the past 20 years or more, and for most of those years, we have "taken it on the chin' for even suggesting such a thing. Liberty and freedom are costly affairs, Jim - no one's "freedom" ever came about for "free." This "mess" in Afghanistan was not created by the US (or Canada for that matter). We freely gave of our money and support to these same leaders when they asked for American help against the Soviets. We never thought these same Taliban leaders would turn around and provide money, training, and general support for the terrorists that then attacked us on our soil. After 9/11 - to have left the Taliban in power, when we knew conclusively of their active involvement and complicity in the Sept. 11th tragedy - would have been akin to sanctioning their actions therein, and to sitting on our hands when it occurred again. Surely, you can't be so stupid or prone to leftist-group-think to believe we should've gone down that path? We've done what we've had to do to bring this fight to their shores, and not ours. Should we fail there (and I don't think we will), you must be aware that the same methods they're using in Afghanistan, will most certainly be used in the Northern Hemisphere against all manner of civilians - American and Canadian. Even you will not be exempt, Jim.
