MPs' drug plan beats coverage for elderly, poor

OTTAWA — Politicians and bureaucrats who decide what drugs are covered under Canada's public plans are reimbursed for a wider range of new medications than those offered to soldiers, seniors, the elderly and the poor. Federal MPs, for instance, do not have to pay for Raptiva, a drug for psoriasis that was approved last August and has proved effective in cases where standard creams and pills have failed.
