Vista Gallery

Globe and Mail Update

Vista's photo-handling abilities are puzzling. Its ability to import photos is a major step back from the equivalent function in XP, which had a wizard pop up when the system detected a digital camera or memory card had been connected; the wizard allowed you to choose which pictures to import. Vista's version will import only all of the photos at once or none at all, meaning they will all be identified as part of the same set and tagged with the same metadata. That means users will have to go into the gallery and manually sort them out. This is a major flaw, and users should move to a better picture organizer.
