Huet to undergo surgery on left hamstring

Canadian Press

Montreal — Goaltender Cristobal Huet will undergo surgery to repair a torn left hamstring and will be out of action indefinitely, the Montreal Canadiens announced Saturday.

The surgery is to be performed on Sunday.

Huet, the team's top goaltender, was injured while stretching for a puck as Brian Rafalski scored during a 5-2 Montreal loss in New Jersey on Wednesday night.

The Canadiens called up Jaroslav Halak from the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday to fill in as backup in goal to David Aebischer.

Huet, who had struggled in goal of late, is 19-15-3 this season with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
