Pre-sales for Surrey's largest residential and commercial development, Quattro, open tomorrow.
The $600-million project aims to revitalize one of Surrey's oldest neighbourhoods, North Whalley.
Not only is Quattro the biggest project ever to be taken on in Surrey, with over 1,110 new homes spanning 10 acres, it is also offering some of the most affordable housing in the Lower Mainland, with suites starting at $119,900.
"Surrey is the fastest-growing city in the province, with over 1,000 people moving to the city each month," says Bill Morrison of Pilot House Real Estate Inc.
The growth equates to good timing for a new development as the area undergoes the first stages of revitalization.
The number of residential units approved for construction in Whalley has more than doubled in the last decade.
"Buyers want to get into this market because they know the potential for investment growth is huge and they want to be part of an up-and-coming community," says Mr. Morrison. Surrey's construction value increased by roughly 16 per cent in 2005, jumping from $1.026-billion in 2004 to $1.187-billion.
Mr. Morrison looks at Quattro as bringing a touch of Yaletown to North Surrey by offering upscale, modern suites with hip, modern exterior architecture without the inflated pricetags.
To achieve this, each unit at Quattro will have the essentials of luxury living, like granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and unique floor plans including loft apartments.
Located just two blocks from the Gateway SkyTrain, Quattro residences will be within a 45-minute commute of downtown Vancouver. "It's affordable, it's large and it's convenient," says Mr. Morrison.
Developers Tien Sher Group have also put an emphasis on design and architecture, choosing Richmond-based Patrick Cotter Architect Inc. as lead designer for Quattro.
"Architects need to have not only a flair for design, but an innate sense of the neighbourhood and community, both now and in the future," says Mr. Morrison.
Quattro will be constructed in four phases, the first of which will begin this summer and consist of 400 residential units.
