Crisis: SECURITY/ RIGHTS

Canada is facing a crisis of confidence in its national security laws and practices. It's a crisis generated from the best of intentions. A fierce argument was begun in the fall of 2001 over the provisions of our first-ever Anti-Terrorism Act; we've never stopped arguing since. We can be proud of the fact that this country is in the vanguard of Western democracies willing and able to scrutinize the legal powers adopted in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
