Economy grinds to slowest pace in three years

The Canadian economy limped to its slowest pace in over three years in the fourth quarter as business inventories buckled. The gross domestic product, which measures the value of all goods and services produced, slowed to a 1.4-per-cent annual pace in the fourth quarter, Statistics Canada said Friday. It was the slowest pace since the middle of 2003, when the economy was grappling with SARS and an outbreak of mad-cow disease.
