RBC's hot foreign operations contribute to record profit

Royal Bank of Canada, the dominant player in the domestic market, is getting better-than-expected growth from its international operations as it continues to turn in record profit.
RBC announced a 27.6-per-cent rise in profit Friday, earning $1.49-billion for the three months ended Jan. 31 on the back of strong performances from every division. The bank signalled it expects the good times will last by boosting its dividend by 15 per cent.
