No pillow fights allowed for the Big Hurt. Frank Thomas's attempts to show off his hitting prowess for the Toronto Blue Jays run afoul of the ad censors. ...Read the full article

chris W from Elora Ontario, Canada writes: I look forward to seeing the ad. At least the CBC seems to have some sanity in allowing it. The pillowed lad, after all, appears unhurt and impressed that such a big galoot can be a kid, too. I also enjoyed previous examples of this sort of Jays boosterism: the pitcher beaning the wasp nest to land on the two rock throwing boys... more child abuse? OR -- wait a minnit! it's an advertisement! -- good clean fun. I'm voting for a sense of humour.

Nick Sab from Colorado Springs, United States writes: I'm appalled at the commercial. I have two small kids and there should have been more pillow fighting going on. This would have made it more real. Get over the fact that this is a fun commercial and stop looking too deep into everything. I saw the spot on youtube and it was quite fine. Family vilence? Give me a break, it's good clean fun.

Gordon Foster from Ottawa, Ontario, writes: It is amazing what people will waste time and money on. Just think part of tax/cable rates are going to pay the salaries of these anal-retentivies. God forbid that and adult get involved in a kids pillow fight. I am absolutely positive that the childrens safety, and well being was at the forefront when the commercial was being shot.
I hope this backfires. I LOVE the ad, and had a good laugh. I hope that the Jays take advantage of this free publicity, and sell lots of tickets, and sell Frank Thomas hats, shirts, and jerseys. I have seen several of the other Blue Jays ads, and find them equally funny.
These people should watch some of the Advertisements on US sports stations, such as that last year where a person on the sidewalk acts like a catcher, as he takes out another pedestrian, as if he were trying to score a run at home plate. Would a commercial like this lead to a rash of people trying to take out fellow pedesterians on Front Street??? If so call the Metro Police.....
If these regulatory bodies are scared that parents are going to take their kids out with an over stuffed pillow, these parents obviously have a dissassociation between TV and reality. Therefore, instead of wasting money on something this obsurd they should to funnel money into programs where kids are being abused.- Posted 09/04/07 at 3:05 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
