Scientists sniff out key to canine size

CALGARY So what's the difference between the Taco Bell chihuahua and Beethoven the movie-star St. Bernard? Turns out, while big dogs dominate in food consumed and delivery folks frightened, pint-sized pooches have a leg up in the gene pool.
Researchers have identified a particular piece of doggy DNA that is common to every small-dog breed and, in turn, is probably responsible for making them tiny.
