Supreme Court cautious about dictating government spending
It was an extraordinary cry in the wilderness from a Supreme Court of Canada judge considered to be a staunch conservative.In ruling on gay rights last month, Judge Michel Bastarache took umbrage with his eight colleagues for refusing to make the federal government fully compensate hundreds of gays who had been denied pension survivor benefits for many years.
