Railway strike hits trade surplus

Canada's trade surplus shrank more than expected in February as a two-week railway strike made it difficult for exporters to get their products to a border or port.
The surplus narrowed to $4.8-billion from a revised $5.8-billion in January, Statistics Canada said Friday.
Exports slumped 2.1 per cent in February. The only sector that eked out a gain for the month was energy, most of which is shipped through pipelines.
Excluding energy, exports plummeted 5.
