  1. Keith Anderson from Powell River, Canada writes: Obviously your writer has never stood on the Fraser River near Hope in August when the Sockeye begin their migration north. Mr. MacDonlald wonders why Canucks aren't filling up these exspensive lodges? He must be a city kid. Literally thousands of "Canadian" anglers mostly from the Lower Mainland crowd the sand bars and cliffs along the Fraser trying to snag the fiesty salmon. I take exceptiion to the notion that we Canucks don't appreciate our rivers, lakes and oceans as fishing jewells. I think our main problem is finding the time in our busy lives to get out there and take in the wonders of our incredible landscape and partake in meditative pastimes like fishing. Besides, what Canuck is going to spend $6000 to get spoiled in some five star fish camp when a good map, a 4x4 or good boat will get you into the same majestic atmosphere offered by these high-end lodges. Yes I'd rather camp on the land, find a secluded fishing hole, cook a couple of trout on an open fire, and listen to the tranquil sounds of the mighty river than hear some noisy friggin' chopper as it whisks it's pampered Yank or Euro-touris to what was a truly wild river befoire they showed up.

I think the author of this article should check the 'QuebecSporting' site.

  3. Alan Kane from best in the west, Canada writes: I hope all those lodges keep attracting more fishermen so I can continue to wander along our streams and rivers alone and fish without the crowd.

Fortunately, I've never felt the need to be pampered or guided in life.
