O'Connor misleads on the torture file
Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor offered yet another bogus assurance to Canadians yesterday that prisoners transferred by this country's military to local authorities will not be abused. He has, he asserted in the House, a guarantee that any abuse will be reported to Canada: "I have the personal assurance of the leader of the human-rights commission in Kandahar and the national level."
Alas, the guarantee is empty.
