  1. Michael Enright from Toronto, Canada writes: I’m a huge KPMB fan. Redesign projects like the National Ballet School, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Gardiner Museum are some of the best undertaken in this city. I’m glad that the Ryerson campus redesign is under their stewardship.
  2. Robert Marshall from Scarborough, Canada writes: As a Ryerson student myself I am happy with this news. The campus really does need to have a new look. Kerr hall could easily go but please don't take away my quad.
  3. Jordan Roberts from toronto, Canada writes: KPMB may be an excellent firm but this plan is horrifying!

They want to "replace" Kerr Hall, a very sound and handsome building with bas-relief statuary on it's brick, stone and polished granite walls and a copper-clad clock tower, with a generic glass box?!

And the so-called "retaining wall" they plan to tear out and pave over is actually raised planting beds containing shrubs, trees, vines and flowering plants. That would increase the urban heat effect and rainwater runoff. This "fortress-like" building encloses the beautiful, green quad making it a serene oasis in the midst of downtown. When passing you can glimpse this vision through the graceful arches, or even stroll through.

The architect is apparently not even aware of when Kerr Hall was built. The plaque on it's walls says 63-64 not, as he states, "in the 70s" And what of the cost of demolishing a wonderful building in excellent shape for the sake of trendiness? If this is what the Ryerson camous makeover is about it is madness!
  4. Jennifer Pidgen from Canada writes: I walk around Ryerson's streets from time to time and can't believe that it's due for an overhaul. It's a beautiful place to walk through in the spring & summer. I wouldn't change a thing.
