Corporate Canada: Going, going ... gone?

The other night I had the strangest dream. In it, a spectral figure hovered at my bedside. It was the ghost of Mel Hurtig. "I told you so," it said. "Our country has been sold out from underneath us. Our greatest companies are gone. We are no longer masters of our destiny. We have been reduced to lackeys of global capitalism." When I woke up, I heard that mighty Alcan was the target of a hostile $33-billion takeover bid.
