Canadian economy powers ahead
The Canadian economy expanded 3.7 per cent in the first quarter, the fastest pace of growth in more than a year, buoyed by the energy sector and retail sales.
The quarterly growth soared from the previous quarter's 1.5-per-cent annual rate, which was revised from 1.4 per cent, Statistics Canada said Thursday. Statscan revised its GDP numbers back to 2003, though economists noted the changes weren't as great as expected.
