Canada, Germany agree on long-range goals

BERLIN — Despite their considerable differences, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and German Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged yesterday to work toward a new global pact on climate change by finding common ground in advance of this week's crucial international meeting on reducing greenhouse gases.
