BEIJING AND TORONTO — At a time when global consumers are wary of being poisoned by hazardous Chinese products, Beijing's bureaucrats are fretting over an unexpected new item: Canadian peas and lentils. In one of the oddest twists of China's food-safety system, Canada's food business has been caught in a Chinese crackdown on an ingredient normally seen as safe or even beneficial.
