Adrian du Plessis from Canada writes: Touring IS a gas - in many ways. I've had the joy and honour of travelling to concerts with Allison Crowe for years now. Indeed, there's plenty of music-lovers who mix up bluegrass singer and fiddler Alison Krauss with rock, jazz, folk artist Crowe. Either one, though, could likely perform a great version of "(Now and Then) There's a Fuel Such as I".

Dave Baird from Nanaimo, Canada writes: It's great to see great artists like Allison Crowe can reduce their carbon footprint, and actually reduce travel costs. It just goes to show that a little innovation, and adaptability can be a win win situation, both environmentally and finacially. Yet again artists sow the seeds of change!

Dave . from Canada writes: "estimates that she saved about $4000—about $1000 in gas and $3,000 in meals and accomodation."
That's a fantastic partnership. I'd be much more convinced to take the train if I knew there were going to musicians rocking out. The trains are giving away space that wouldnt have been used. And the musician save tons of cash and advertise. I hope this catches on.
$1,000 to drive across the country, seriously?- Posted 23/07/07 at 9:24 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Adrian du Plessis from Canada writes: It is/was a cool idea that was terrifically successful in practice. VIA Rail folks took a very creative approach to things. BTW, Allison's gas numbers were estimated using a single car for comparison. Had she calculated the fuel costs for a motorhome, or bus, naturally, the gas expense would be commensurately higher than $1000.
