Blogger Ian McKenzie’s hometown Edmonton Eskimos and Edmonton Oilers had strong seasons two years ago but faded this past year. Wondering why, he pinpointed five traits that are the hallmark of a champion:
• Character Champions have defined values, ethics, and standards that drive them.
• Conviction They know what they want to achieve and how to get there. Even when they don’t win all the small victories, focusing on the big win carries them.
• Control They take charge of circumstances. They constantly hone their skills to meet the challenges that come their way and develop new skills.
• Composure They are even-tempered, remaining calm and focused in difficult situations.
• Consistency Champions do the right things over and over again.
