Dom P from Ottawa, Canada writes: 'Robert Kennedy from Sydney, Canada writes: Those 'complex socially relevant dramas' -- my God, you're stupid! ' You don't understand what that means so you call him stupid?
I'm glad Damon is getting recongnised for his talent, he's a great actor capable of fulfulling many styles of characters. I look forward to watching Bourne this weekend and await his next movies impatiently.- Posted 01/08/07 at 8:51 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Kachi K. from Toronto, Canada writes: Robert...what a lame remark. Care to explain?
Damon is a great actor and the roles he selects are challenging and yes some are socially complex.
What I like about Damon is he's not your typical action star like the Willis, Chan, Schwarzennegger, Stallone, Segal..etc guys.
These Bourne films have action but they're not over-the-top cartoonish stuff we've been seeing. This is action with some brawns.- Posted 01/08/07 at 9:48 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

He seems like the un-celebrity. He actually has an interest & informed opinion on some world issues. I'm not a fan of excessive celebrity advocacy (e.g. Bono), so hopefully he doesn't get carried away.
Personally, having an interest in geo-politics and oil, I thought 'Syriana' was one of the best movies in recent memory.
I'm looking forward to the Bourne Ultimatum premier tonight!- Posted 01/08/07 at 12:49 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

m dooley from Canada writes: The Bourne series should be called the Bored series. This guy is too super-human to believe and as a result this does not make a good tale of espionage. Damons a good actor but those movies suck.

Wanderingwilly Longtail from Victoria, Canada writes: I like himj as an actor and will buy the dvd to this movie to add to the two other Bourne movies in my collection. Just wish they stuck more to the actual books the movie was based on. And his girfriend/wife is supposed to be Canadian!!

Ben Dover from Vancouver, Canada writes: It is nice to see that one of the 'Hollywood Elite' seems to have their head on. I do think he is a good actor, and I do hope that he chooses to use his star power to elevate movies with a social message. Then perhaps I am biased given that both he and I are the same age and, by several accounts of people I know, strikingly similar in appearance. Now if only my bank account would catch up :)

Jim Terrets from Vancouver, writes: Matt Damon a "great actor?" Apparently, acting standards have gone through the floor much like all the other standards in our society. Reality check folks: Matt Damon has the acting range of a pinata. In fact, you can call him the "human pinata". He's appropriate for the roles that he plays because they don't ask too much of him, i.e., they don't ask him to demonstrate any kind of range beyond "white guy in his 30's in an action movie." I'm not bagging on Matt Damon, he deserves his success just as much as the next guy, but let's not carried away here.

Joe Palooka from Toronto, Canada writes: Damon is a fine actor. I am surprised that the article made no mention of his best performance: Tom Ripley in The Talented Mr Ripley. This guy's talented, no doubt, and appears to be a decent chap, too.

Ice Ko from Bordertown, BC, Canada writes: Damon certainly recycles the same mannerisms, twitches and lip curls interestingly enough to come across as inoffensive and even appealing in many of his movies. His urgent. tense. careful. single word. controlled breathing. elocution. in tight spots. is one of his more predictable trademarks. But I don't think he's yet shown he's a great actor. In fact I think he's shown enough for us to conclude that he most likely never will be one. He strained so hard to create that Ripley character that his acting tools developed 'roids. Of course Law and Paltrow were awful in that piece of slush, too.
In his favor, I confess to liking the Bourne movies so far, especially the first one, despite their excesses, and mainly because of him. Too bad he has decided to make political message movies, because art too easily takes second place to zeal.- Posted 02/08/07 at 7:13 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
