Thrashers add two

Canadian Press

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Thrashers signed free-agent defenceman Karel Pilar and forward Milan Bartovic to contracts on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old Pilar most recently was part of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. He had seven points (2-5) in 10 games last season after joining the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

Pilar missed the majority of the past two seasons with a heart ailment, and spent the 2004-05 season with HC Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic.

He has 30 points (6-24) in 90 career NHL games with Toronto.

Bartovic, 26, split last season between the Zurich Lions of the Swiss League and the IF Malmo Redhawks of the Swedish Elite League.

He's appeared in 50 NHL games with Buffalo and Chicago during his career, racking up 17 points (3-14).
