Don't try this at home

From Saturday's Globe and Mail

HOW DO YOU DO IT?

The basic idea? Take the phone apart, solder some wires, run some programs and unlock your phone. Specific instructions are best left to the master, George Hotz, who posted a step-by-step guide on his blog at http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com. WHAT DO YOU NEED?

An iPhone, something like a guitar pick to open its case, a soldering iron, fine-pitch wire, an unlock switch or wire cutters and copious amounts of caffeine to help you concentrate through the night.

WHAT IS THE RISK?

You might want to hone your soldering skills before getting to work on your precious little gadget. As Mr. Hotz wrote on his blog: “you may brick your iPhone using this tutorial. YOU ARE WARNED.”
