Ex-minister apologized to couples she 'married'

A former minister who officiated as many as 25 marriages without the legal authority to do so is now facing criminal charges, police say.Rachel Margaret Montgomery-Heersink, who had been stripped of her ministerial duties by the United Church of Canada in 2001, is alleged to have continued to conduct marriage ceremonies in the Bancroft, Ont., area for years afterward.
