Old flames and old feuds flare up in Farlinger's screen adaptation of Brad Smith's neo-Western novel, gorgeously filmed in Ontario's horse country. Ray Dokes (Luke Kirby), recently out of prison after serving time for assault, reconnects with old pal Pete (Keith Carradine) but soon finds himself somehow caught up in sneaky land deals, family farm problems and high-stakes horse-racing shenanigans.
