Angel **1/2 François Ozon (France/U.K./Belgium) Based on a 1957 novel by English novelist Elizabeth Taylor, Angel is a lavishly campy, bizarre, pseudo-literary biography, rendered as Douglas Sirk-inspired melodrama. In Edwardian England, an irrepressible young grocer's daughter and compulsive liar, Angel (Romola Garai), is scorned by her classmates and mocked by her teachers until, improbably, she achieves literary triumph.
