Petraeus and Crocker: measured enough to be believable
There is war and then there is the politics of war. Whatever might be happening on the ground in Iraq, in Washington events have taken a bit of a turn, representing the first unambiguously good news in months for the Republicans.
What the Democrats do about it could influence the outcome not only of the war, but of the next election.
