Don't rush to the negotiating table

A growing chorus of commentators has called for a negotiated settlement between Taliban insurgents and the Karzai government, arguing that only a political solution will solve Afghanistan's problems and pave the way for a speedy exit of Canadian (and NATO) forces. President Hamid Karzai, meanwhile, has also signalled that he is prepared to negotiate.
