  1. S Lucht from Canada writes: Ah, misinformation masquerading as drama, courtesy of the G&M. "Death sentence".."blitzkrieg"...Two decades ago, bone-marrow transplantation could induce a period of remission in an appreciable number of CML patients, so a diagnosis of CML wasn't immediately followed by suggestions to make funeral arrangements. And these days, a diagnosis of CML can still lead to death--note that one of the physicians quoted in the story said that imatinib is not a cure. However, the new generation of drugs can keep the disease, particularly the low-risk form, under control for long periods of time. Patients may not need early bone-marrow transplantation. Further drug discoveries may be able to keep the disease under control for even longer, thereby helping patients avoid toxic ablative regimens for longer.
  2. Ryan Hickman from Toronto, Canada writes: Where are all the Leafs fans who were giving this guy a hard time because he hadn't scored in the first 3 games?

This situation puts a lot of things into perspective not only for Blake, his family and friends but for all of us.

Let's just hope that he can continue to live a healthy and productive life.
  3. ray ittac from Canada writes: Ryan..I was one of those Leaf fans wondering where the millions went and why no production. Now i have info I didnt have before....my mind has changed. What is your point? That you are nicer than the rest of us? Bull! decisions and opinons are formed by the facts available at that time. Do I feel guilty? Absolutely not! God bless Jason and his family and on we go.
