RIM reaches key deal to sell in China

Eight years after it first set its sights on introducing the BlackBerry to China, Research In Motion Ltd. has signed a distribution deal with a French telecom giant in the world's largest cellphone market. The announcement that the Waterloo, Ont.-based firm will team up with Alcatel-Lucent to distribute Blackberry 8700 devices in China drove RIM's stock up 8 per cent to $120.42. The stock has more than doubled in value this year.
