Hay wins Giller for third novel
TORONTO Before Tuesday, Elizabeth Hay had been in the "close-but-no-cigar" category of the Scotiabank Giller Prize. But last night the Ottawa author finally entered the winner's circle when her novel, Late Nights on Air, overtook four other nominees to win the $40,000 prize honouring the best in Canadian English-language fiction.
Ms. Hay's victory was not altogether unexpected.
