Sotheby's auction breaks 18 records

A sculpture made of deconstructed Nike Air Jordan running shoes and hand-sewn into the shape of an aboriginal-style mask was a big hit at yesterday's sale in Toronto of important Canadian art by Sotheby's/Ritchies auctioneers. The mask, Prototype for New Understanding #5, by Brian Jungen, was expected to do well, as the 37-year-old British Columbia artist has an international profile and a waiting list of clients to buy his works.
