  1. Derek Holtom from Swan River, Canada writes: The CBC has only themselves to blame. They abandonded the CFL years ago, only doing CFL games after Labour Day. It was TSN who saved the CFL with their Friday night game. Then the mistakes. Games without announcers. Not airing the final of the Riders and Eskimos game. Their terrible announcers. The CBC tries to be all things to all people, but they can't hold a candle to TSN when it comes to sports.
That's why curling is back at TSN. The CCA could not put up with the CBC and their endless mistakes.
  2. Andrew Perry from halifax, Canada writes: The abandonment of CFL coverage, especially at a time when it's popularity is on the upswing is a further symptom of CBC's gradual retreat from it's mandate to tell Canada's and Canadian's stories to ourselves and to the world.
The increase of coverage of Sen's and Hab's hockey, while welcome, is symptomatic of the same reality. When the Leafs were the most profitable to carry, only the Leafs were carried; now that they show no signs of being there for an extended playoff run, CBC will grudgingly forgo some regular season viewer-ship in order to reap playoff profits from the same fans who were not worthy of consideration as recently as September. The idea that overall viewer-ship might actually be higher if other Canadian teams were carried more often, giving them an opportunity to build a non-regional fan base still seems to be beyond the capacity of the CBC brainbust.
Meanwhile, other carriers have been building those fan bases, yet will not get to share in the benefits as CBC comes in to scoop up the playoff gravy. Next year,I'm getting RDS, not only will I get lots of Sen's and Hab's coverage, it will improve my French, thus contributing to national unity.
  3. R D from Canada writes: Derek Holtom has it right.

A number of years ago at a Stamps/Esks Labour Day Classic game several of us thanked Mark Lee and the CBC for showing up half way through the season. We got a sneer and the finger from him - which is typical of Lee and CBC Sports attitude towards just about everything and everyone.
