M S from Toronto, Canada writes: Well, freedom of expression and all that. Still, parents who refuse to have their children vaccinated, not because of an actual allergy to the vaccine but because of whacko religious beliefs or nonsensical fears of "autism", should be dealt with the way the law deals with Jehovah's Witnesses who refuse to let their kids receive life-saving blood transfusions. The province should temporarily take custody of the child, vaccinate him or her, and then return custody to the parents. Repeat as needed.
The prevention of horrible diseases such as rubella, polio, diphtheria and others is too important to allow a growing number of nutjob parents to ruin it for everyone else.- Posted 06/12/07 at 3:52 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
