Chalk River reactor restarted

CHALK RIVER, Ont. — A Canadian nuclear reactor that has been offline since mid-November — creating a worldwide shortage of medical isotopes vital for many diagnostic tests — is up and running again. It is anticipated that medical isotopes will begin to be removed for processing and distribution within four days. The reactor in Chalk River, Ont., was supposed to be shut down from Nov. 18 to Nov. 23 for planned maintenance.
